I occasionally get fan mail, people who appreciate my work and make an effort to let me know. It’s always nice to receive, and the note below tops the list. It came from a reader of Colloquy Magazine in reference to the images we created for the cover and feature story. If you haven’t heard of Colloquy, know that you have to hold a PHD from Harvard to receive it. I’m not including the editor’s or author’s name, but it’s for real, made my day when I got it…
Dear Ms ….,
I just had to write to say that Bruce Peterson’s photos for the story on scientific instruments were among the most beautiful I have ever seen: the composition of the various elements was so strikingly accomplished that a sense of pure order (appropriate to the content) radiated from the whole. No matter from what angle one looks, or which aspect of the contents one focusses on, one’s eye is immensely pleased. Whoever chose the elements to be assembled within each of the two photographs is also to be thanked. And if you’d be willing to forward this e-mail to Mr. Peterson so that he could know that his photographs are—at least to this reader—beyond praise, I’d be glad. No answer expected.
